Stock market is full of risk. If you follow my advice do not invest in stock market. Rather invest in media production house projects. I know some filmmakers who need people like you to invest. Investing in businesses like media production projects is more fruitful than investing in stock market. You can with more certainty evaluate a film script or television serial than predicting how a stock might perform in stock market. I can guide you and can get you in touch with some filmmakers, it is for you to decide if you would like to invest and participate in a filmmaking project.

A one year investment right now is tricky. In a general sense, what I would do is try to time it. Look for a 5-7% decline and put in half your money. If it goes down another 5-7% put the other half in. Then on a rally, sell it all. I think the market is range bound for the next year so you have to play the downs and ups.

Right now Defencive stocks (Companies that dont rely on economical growth) and industrial shares. Industrial share preform best in recoverying markets... IE where we are now and will be fro a long time it would seem. Gold is currently on a long term bear trend, if the uncertainty of the market continues and worsen gold should break through its long term resistance and climb quite well.

Investing is for the long term only. A one-year investment is not an investment, it's gambling. If you are going to absolutely need your money for something important in one year and can't afford to lose a dime of it, find the best FDIC insured money market rate you can find and put it there.
