What are general motors' annual stock prices, from 1999?
I'm doing a research paper for a business law class, looking at why general motors wouldn't include a rollover warning label on their SUVs a loophole in the law it's an ethical issue . I'm looking for reasons GM would want to hide this information one hypothesis I have come up with they are trying to make their SUVs sound safer by not needing the warning labels because of declining profits. I'm looking for either the stock prices of GM annually from 1999 to 2002, or profit margins... Anything that can show that they are being unethical to raise profits. I've only been able to find records as far back as march 2011, but this is useless information to me. Does anyone know where to find more financial information on GM? Or possibly have this information?the two answers given are great... but again only go as far back as Nov. 18, 2010... i need lat 90's to early '00's any help would be amazing

How are stock prices affected by the economy?
In my finance class we have studied stock prices. After doing numerous problems, it seems that the stock price is higher when the required rate of return is lower and the stock price is lower when the required rate of return is higher. However, in my notes, I have a chart that shows that during a recession the general level of interest rates decrease, and that it is a good time to buy stock because the stock price is low. Then when the economy picks back up, the interest rates increase and the stock price goes up. When interest rates peak, the stock market slows down and it becomes a good time to sell stocks because the stock prices have increased. Can someone please explain this chart. It seems contradictory to what I have learned about stock. Why are stocks cheaper during a recession?

For example, Company A's stock price in January was $40. In February it rose to $50 and in March it rose to $60. Are these stock prices increasing because Company A is 'increasing them' or is it due to to other reasons? Excuse me, as I am a rookie when it comes to financeThe definition of stock, according to Wiki, is " The capital stock or just stock of a business entity represents the original capital paid into or invested in the business by its founders. It serves as a security for the creditors of a business since it cannot be withdrawn to the detriment of the creditors. Stock is different from the property and the assets of a business which may fluctuate in quantity and value."
