Should I invest in retirement plans like 401K?
hi, I am a foreign national and plan to live in US for the next 10 15 years. I was wondering if I should put a portion of income into 401k plans and other retirement plans like IRAs. I am confused since these plans are designed for US citizens will be living here for the rest of their lives. Please advise. Thanks for the advice. I was also thinking that in my country savings or fixed deposit rate is close to 9 %. Should I invest the leftover money there after investing in 401k and Roth IRA plans?
I want to retrieve my 401k retirement money how much will I loose?
Im 23 years old and I make 35 40k a year on average. I have 2700 in my 401k and plan to leave the company I work for so I can get my 401k out. I want to use the money for a downpayment on a house because tired of renting. How much will the government take away on estimate. I dont think its fair you gotta pay taxes again for money thats been taxed already from your check but thags why the government is screwed up. So if you can give me an estimate it will help thamx.
Is retirement taxed in Portland?
I live in Honolulu HI and going for a business career. Hawaii is not a good place to start up a business and the cost of living is really high. I plan to move to Seattle Bellevue area to start up my business because taxes are low, disposable incomes are high and cost of living is much less compared to Hawaii. Portland is much cheaper than Seattle and in my opinion is a better place to live but its not business friendly as Seattle and taxes are high. I plan to live in Seattle, own my own business and buy my own home then when I retire sell my business and sell my home then move to Portland, Oregon where my dollar is more stretched.
How should I start saving/investing for retirement?
I'm 34 and have not saved anything thus far. My employer does not offer a 401 k . I thought the given was to start with a Roth IRA but the rates are so low right now, my bank offers the same rate on a savings account, so I don't understand why I wouldn't just open a specific savings account for it and not be confined in withdrawing funds should a better investment opportunity present itself. I won't touch it if it's set aside for retirement. What about mutual funds? Should I do the age thing and invest 34 % in bonds and 66 % in stocks? I think I should be riskier now while I'm younger. And any recommended firms institutions to do anything through, IRA, mutual funds, stocks, bonds, etc.? I've done a lot of research online but there's just sooo much to all of this. I can start with about $300 mo. right now and would like to increase the amount $100 200 mo. in every future year. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
