First time invester. Need advice on where to start. mutual funds, Bonds?
I am very interested in investing in something. I have been researching a lot and i would appreciate it if i can get any additional advice. Let me just start off by saying im broke. I have a limited amount of money. I get the lowest pay. So i need to start off small. I have been looking into mutual funds? I read on some books that some places would accept 100$? or is that just a downpayment.? I want the safest place to start. I just really want to know the process. I want to start off by putting at most 1000$ a month. no more. Did i mention that i dont want to work with a broker. I heard bad things about some brokers that take advantage of people like me. I want to know what im doing.Please only serious answers. I need to change my life up a bit. I just have no idea how and i dont know much about this. Thanks everyone.

I'm trying to build a diversified portfolio for a school project and its easy to find stocks, but how do you find low risky mutual funds to even out my portfolio? How do I know how risky one is?
SIP mutual funds query for 20 years?
Hi friends,So I am 28 and have decided to retire by 48.....hopefully....I am planning to invest through SIP on the following.. plz comment whether its okay, good or poor or if any suggestion i will be grateful.1. HDFC Top 200 1000 rs2. DSP BR Small & Mid Cap 1000 rs 3. HDFC Tax Saver 1000 rs4. SBI Magnum Contra 1000 rs5. Sundaram Select Midcap Regular Plan G 1000 rs 6. PPF provident fund....at 8.6 % flat 3000I have gone for multiple funds to lower down the risk, as even if 2 or 3 of them fail but the rest give a desired 20 25 % return, i will be close to a crore.Pls advice if any correction can be made to the above.Have a nice day

First Pacific Mutual Fund, SURFXTilson Dividend, TILDXSchwab tax free bond Fund, SWNTX i am just curious why each of these are good funds to purchase, if you could just describe something simple for each of them. in other words, i'm not looking for a broad statement that could be said for them as a whole.
