IPO - means " Initial Public Offering " It means when a company issues common stock or shares to the public for the first time. For eg: If you start your own company and want to raise capital through shares for the first time, then you will offer IPO of your own company. ( based on the guidelines given by SEBI )

IPO = Initial Public Offer The first sale of stock by a private company to the public. After issue of IPOs, it will be listed in the Stock Exchange in the form of share with variable values (may be less or more than IPO price). In an IPO, the issuer obtains the assistance of an underwriting firm, which helps it determine what type of security to issue (common or preferred), the best offering price and the time to bring it to market.

As already above member says the full form. But it is the primary capital market's product in which shares are offered to general public directly by the company who wishes to raise their share capital (in need of fund) on bid bases between upper and lower range. Thanks & Regards
