CDs are not investment vehicles as they can't hope to match inflation. They are a safe, secure place in which to park cash on a temporary basis and not more than that. If you want to merely preserve capital, then a CD is excellent. I invest in stocks but won't suggest you do as I do for it isn't your bailiwick. Nor will I suggest any other investment vehicles for you haven't requested help of that sort. Len

No. CDs are only good for landfill.

It is a good idea for a person that is retired and does not expect to live much longer-like maybe 10-15 more years. I would not invest in CD's for many other reasons. Too much risk of inflation. You would have to make 20% more than the inflation rate just to break even with taxes. Inflation could reach 10%-20% with our deficit soon.

Yeah if you want to go long term and not have your money available. but investing in the market is smarter and with help from sites like tomsstockpicks.weebly.com/ they will give you information and tools to help you make good decisions in the market. ive been using the trade strategies and its been very useful

Not a real good choice but perhaps better than some provided you do not go out beyond 2 years. You will not get rich doing so. They are just sort of a parking place more or less.

That depends on you and how much risk you can take. If you cant afford to lose principal and you need the money in the short term then a CD is a good idea.
