Future financial planning?
I am 29 years old and married, I earn 80k a month and my investments are only a LIC policy of 25K, which I pay annually,I am planning to buy a car around 4L of which I would be paying around 1.25L as down payment and remaining to be financed as bank loan for 3 yrs,Also would be going ahead for family planning this year, In addition to above I am planning to purchase a flat around 40L, by giving around 9L as down payment and remaining to get financed from bank, My query is that, given my future planning would it be a right decision to go ahead for owning a flat, considering the rise in cost of living ,Also I would mention that my wife is a complete homemaker. Thanks and Regards,Abhishek.

Dad is nearing retirement age, advice on life insurance, financial planning?
As for my issue, a little background my Dad is nearing retirement age, still working full time as the sole earner between him and my Mom. He s been seriously overweight for many years, not suffered much in the way of health issues though odds are great that this will change, and relatively soon . Declared bankruptcy about seven years ago, so he s mostly debt free house will be paid off in two years, reasonable note on one vehicle problem is, he has little in the way of retirement and is woefully underinsured from a life policy standpoint 3 times current salary thru his employer . I m one of five kids, all of whom make a decent to good living albeit with families and the investment and insurance related responsibilities that come with them . Now for the question I d like to help advise him on how to improve his lot, from an insurance standpoint, but fear that his age 63 and weight over 300 makes this all but impossible via traditional means. Any ideas on how to get at this from a non traditional route i.e., supplemental coverage, investments, etc. ? I m sure that the kids can and would pitch in to help pay premiums and so forth, just have no idea what his options are at this time.
What degree would help with financial planning work?
I'm in high school and starting to think about college and my career. I was thinking about getting into financial planning. I want to start off with a bachelor's degree of some sort and eventually an MBA. I'm also interested in engineering. Should I get a bachelor's degree in engineering, or something like acounting? I've heard the undergraduate degree isn't as important for this field but it seems counter productive to go with something that is not finance related. Any imput would help, thanks
