Is the paid preparer's signature good enough on a copy of a tax return forl, asked by the financial aid?

Question: Is the paid preparer's signature good enough on a copy of a tax return forl, asked by the financial aid?

My college is asking to fill out a verification sheet and it's asking me to attach a copy of a signed tax return of my parents. I found a copy but it only has the signature of the paid preparer. Will that be okay?

Without your parents' signatures, the tax return is just a pile of papers to the financial aid office. Get your parents to sign the copy and give that to them. Try to keep a copy of everything you give the office in case they lose something or say that you skipped a question. I hope this helps. Gary

It's not legal unless your parents signed it, too. Financial aid is scarce, and they look for any reason to reject you, so I suggest you get your parents to sign the copy, then make another copy of that to send in.

The taxpayers have to sign it. If it's your tax return you must sign it. If it's your parents' joint return they must both sign it.

Your tax return isn't legal until all parties have signed it unless a POA is involved. when I give a copy of a tax return I sign it and ask for that person to sign it also.
