Can you start a parent business and put two biz under one name?

Question: Can you start a parent business and put two biz under one name?

(Posted by: bang on 2010-03-09 12:24:12)

Say i make 100k a year from my current biz AAA, if i start a new biz CCC and the start up expense is 20k. can i start a parent business "ABC " and put AAA and CCC under it, so i can use the startup expense 20k to deduct on the income earned from both biz? *P.S. there's only me in this online biz, self- employed, no employee. and all my biz ventures are web- based sites. so basically i called my parent biz ABC Media, and under it is aaa.com and ccc.com is it important that the parent biz is corporation to put biz under it?

It is just one business doing two things. Think about GE or Microsoft. They both do many things.
