Merchant Circle is a good group to join, online. A lot of folks doing small business that can help you with answers for all the day-to-day wonky stuff that will come up out of the blue (even after 4 years I am often stumped on small business details and this can be a great resource!). Anyone that you know that is doing the same thing (small, home-based business) is a good resource. When you first start out....maybe try to get involved at a craft show or some event with vendors that tend to be crafty home-based folk. People you meet there may wind up being a huge resource for you. I stopped doing those shows after a year in the business but I am still connected to quite a few people I met at the first one I ever did. Don't be afraid to ask questions....don't be afraid to try something new. Make sure you are covered, legally and tax-wise, and you will be fine! Good luck... |
