Should I delay adding to my 401k?
My employer is changing the amount of matching contributions on July 1, 2012 to $.50 of $1.00 of 2 % of eligible earnings. That is up from 1 % of eligible earnings. I plan to contribute the maximum allowed and I can do it all after July 1. Should I wait until after the matching contributions or stay on course and continue to have a percentage taken out of every check. Thanks in advance John.Very good answers Thank you I'm glad you guys understood the question. Very good. Thanks.

401k advice, looking for help/suggestions on how to get more involved and mange my401k.?
I am 43 and my current job just started a 401k with no match the first year but a 100 % match up to 5 % starting next January. I am able to contribute 5 % into our Roth 401k as of right now. I am currently putting 100 % into TR Price 2030 fund. I would like to get more involved but not sure where to start. How often should you check how your funds are doing or make changes? I am 43 years old with $45,000 in my previous companys 401k which is managed by financial engines. What should I do with that? I would consider myself moderatly aggressive. Here is a list of our options. I think it would be easier if my investment options were broken down into categotries such as, large cap stocks bonds, mid stocks bonds, international stocks bonds etc. Any suggestions comments would be appreciated. Why am I getting another 1099r for a 401k i already paid taxes on in 2010?
Here's my situation....In 2010, my 401k was closed and I was sent a check with the funds. I left an employer. However, I never got the check and I was reissued one in 2011. They sent me a 1099 and they said i have to pay it since the account was cashed out in 2010. I paid it on my 2010 taxes, and I just got another one for this year ? I shouldnt have to pay it again right?
